Shruti Iyer Interview in Explosive Fashion
There will always be glitz and glamour, but with assignments on the wane and the economy on the fritz, the mood of the moment has been a bit reserved. But since we're diligent believers in the elevating power of lipstick it is time to celebrate one more aspiring beauty I met during Punjab international Fashion Week. Shruti Iyer admits she was always a tomboy at heart and even bullied the boys in school [!] but as time passed she grew serious and graduated in Advertising from Ruia College, Mumbai with ambitions of fashion designing and merchandising one day.
"I participated in college fashion shows back then because I was one of the tallest girls in my batch. I quite liked the feel of being on the catwalk and participated in several pageants where I fared well. From there, I was first runners-up at the Navy Queen pageant in 2009 and third runners-up in the acclaimed I Am She pageant in 2010. It has been quite a journey and a wonderful one at that... I took a serious step toward modelling only after faring well at these pageants and am very proud of my TVC for Go Indigo. I do not want to restrict myself to modelling though and aspire to spread my wings towards design and merchandising some day," she sighs.
